Special Services

Here at St. Joseph School we are committed to ensuring that all of our children are appropriately challenged and supported according to their learning needs and styles.  We partner with the Union County Educational Services Commission to provide a range of support services to our parents and students.

Compensatory Education   is offered to students who require basic skills instruction in reading, writing, and mathematics.

ESL  is provided to students whose native language is other than English. The goals of this program are to improve the student’s English speaking, reading, writing and listening skills.

Supplementary Instruction (SI)  is provided to classified students who have a learning problem. The SI teacher provides specialized instruction to assist the student to compensate or overcome his or her learning problem.

Speech Services  are supplied to students identified as having a problem in voice, language, fluency and/or articulation. Students are evaluated by a certified Speech Therapist who develops and implements an ISP if needed.
