My name is Ms. Da Silva and although this is my first year at St. Joseph's, I love it here! I truly love being a prek teacher because everyday there is something to laugh about, and I know can make a difference in my students' lives.

In our Prek-4 + classroom, children are introduced to a structured classroom setting, and we concentrate on early reading and math skills. For these active learners our lessons are filled with activities to help each child grow socially, intelectually and physically. 

• Language lessons include linking letters to their sounds, listening to and responding to text, predicting and retelling stories, and writing letters of the alphabet;
• In math, addition and subtraction are introduced along with graphing, sorting and comparisons;
• In science, they learn about animals, the earth and outer space, the weather, magnets and magnifying lenses and the five senses;
• In Social Studies, they learn about their community and different cultures.
